I got 25 from Ideal in TX shipped to NC. Two days in route in the low 20's when they arrived and all were alive and still thriving. No complaints about my first hatchery order.

My chicks got here today all alive and well. However I was surprised that there was 15 yes 15 other chicks in the box with mine. They have a red tint to them. Are they RIR's? did they just add some off breed to keep them warm I am confused. Can someone give me an explanation plz?
Thanks Freds Hens. That was what my original question was based off of how to lower cost. Not the definition of the word cost. That makes a lot of sense to me. I am looking for other options of acquiring feed other then TC. :)
My cost numbers was based on the cost of feed only, as all that other stuff is a must just to be able to raise chickens so I look at the start up as a non recoverable investment to begin with.
