Just an update to explain our drop off the face of the internet and end of this thread.
My husband was killed shortly after my last post.
We lost everything. Our home, farm, animals, everything.
We haven’t been ready to start over for the past few years, but now we can’t wait to find a new home...
We just love watching the chicks hatch.
It never gets old. If ever there's a chance to watch a chick hatch out, the kids and I are right there watching and cheering the little chickie on LOL
It has been interesting to read this thread. Such a variety of breeds and egg setting numbers :)
I couldn't get a hold of any more Barnevelder eggs here in Australia, so I only set 31 Australorp eggs for this month's hatch on the 16th of March. Due to hatch on the 4th April.

It has been a very busy couple of months here. I haven't had much of a chance to hop on the computer and update our story.

It's great to see this thread going and people updating with pictures of their little flocks.
I'll try and get on the laptop in the next week and upload a few of my own. Been so very busy lately.
Could be from temperature spikes, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have temp spikes this hatch. I had lower humidity drops during my dry incubation and the other issues I had are common with low humidity I believe.
Can you apply 'boots' after a week? Or is it too late by then?
I only just got a chance to closely inspect all of my chicks and noticed one has a couple crooked curly toes.
I've had a few chicks hatch with one 'problem' or another that suggest too low a humidity, so I suspect the dry incubation...
