Ruger 10/22 is the best all around 22. LOTS of accessories, and very reliable!

    Nevadans?

The amp draw for that cooler setup is about 1 amp (120 AC) for the pump and fan combined. Solar panels - we have 9 Sharp 208s. Will never buy Sharp panels again! I will buy Mage units if we get the money to though. Since we are offgrid solar, they are much better for us. All appliances are off...

    Nevadans?

This type of setup (tanked and recirc) saves water, and allows you to add scents to it for either in home use, or to repel insects (mosquitos anyone?). The green media WILL leach into the water, and turn it green. I had to hot glue the 4 little feet of the pump to a flat piece of plastic in...

Here is a list of the non PVC parts that I used. I did include the 1 PVC fitting, since it may be hard to see what it is from the photo. Ryobi 2-1/2 in. Universal Water Pump Model # A113UWP Internet # 100665714 Store SKU # 562367 $17.97 /EA-Each...

    Why Are People Mean?

" After they asked..." Great! I too have been there - with jealous coworkers based on production. Just keep doing your best, and let them fall to the wayside.

Thank you for the welcomes! Also, I have built a small swamp cooler for under $50 with common materials that works very well for personal use - in case anyone is interested in the info on it. This is just the (very) rough POC for it, and the finished version would be fully enclosed and nicely...

    Water wicking for a garden

If you have access to manure and a tank, the 'tea' could be fed into it increasing the effectiveness of the system - perhaps?

    Water wicking for a garden

Does anyone have experience with water wicking on a larger scale? I am thinking of raised beds, 30' long by 4' wide (3' high) for each bed. 1' of water would be almost 900 gallons of water. That will leave 1.5' for the soil and supporting floor. Wicking would be done by cotton rope or old shirts...

When I built our pen, I used chain link fence. The bottom of it was set into a concrete perimeter, with 2' long rebars hammered down into the ground. The 'roof' was non barbed wire fence installed in a grid pattern, tied at every point, and 2x3 garden fence on top of that. We have mountain lions...

    New, in Northern NV

I just wanted to say hi, as I am new on here. I live North of Reno/Sparks and my wife and I used to have chickens. I am interested in most anything that has to do with self reliance and exchanging information. Chris

    Nevadans?

I just joined, and live in Palomino Valley. While we do not have chickens anymore, I am interested in most issues of self reliance and independence.
