I was told that they can handle 6 hens for every drake but I keep mine at a 4 or 5 to 1 ratio just to make sure I have fertile eggs and the fertility doesn't suffer if they can handle 6 to 1. I know a Rooster can handle 10 hens with no problem but ducks are different.

i would say boy for sure because even though hens have small combs this bird isn't even fully feathered and has a pink comb and it is big. The hens won't start to get a comb or have it turn pink or red until they get ready to lay. This is a rooster.

I would always keep 2 drakes. I say this because I raise Cayuga's and we had only 1 drake for our flock and we had a neighbor dog come over and kill the only drake we had. Which ment we had to go out and find another drake but we went and found 2 drakes instead of 1 just so we have a back up...

I know this picture is bad and you can't see the black spots coming in but the one at the top you can see where the feathers are coming in black. Another couple weeks and she will have a lot more black on her.
