    When do most chickens start laying eggs?

    i have 6 leghorns and many different breeds of bantams. when should they start laying? they hatched july 1st, and this is my first year with chickens. i remember reading when most chickens start laying but i can't remember what it said. thx.

    My sister and I went out to feed out 27 meat/egg birds and when we got to the coop, we opened the door and 7 of the chickens were dead!     we have leghorns,and there all suppose to be hens, but the all have the bump on there legs, same with the cornish rocks

    Oh, some of the chicks have oh...shoot i forget the name....the red things on them, but that doesn't help cause our friend has hens with them....
