Hi All.
Just want your thoughts on if these are hens or roos. They're 10 week old landraces (we call them Zulus).
This one I think is a roo (a little aggressive and comb showing)

These ones I think are all hens:

Meadow feeds grower pellets (it's technically for broilers buts it's the closest I can get for teenage chickens)
I don't give treats other than the random passionfruit or a fallen papaya
Hi All,
I've got a sick rooster (pale/limp comb and lethargic). He's got black spots on his comb. I checked for lice and mites under his wings and feet but couldn't find anything...
Suggestions would be nice. Thank you
Thank you so much.
Sadly I'm going to return him. If you want I can take a picture of the father and brother if I can find then.
These are the chickens I'm keeping:

I was decently sure it's a hen. She's 17 to 18 weeks old. She has a brother with a much bigger comb and wattles. Maybe it's a less dominate male with smaller comb but I doubt it.
I see what you're talking about with the saddle feathers though...
Hi All!
So I've recently got this hen (it's a mixed breed landrace), but it's got really cool colouring and I was wondering if any other breed has similar colouring.
Rose comb
Multicoloured barred feathered?
Long legs
Thank you for your reply. Its very informative.
with regards to space, my current estimates are as follows:
Adults (Zulu):
2 hens
1 rooster
So 3 Adults
Teens (Boschveld):
10 hens
4 roosters (ridding of 3)
So 11 Teens
Chicks (Zulu):
18 straight run so expected
9 hens
9 roos (ridding of 8)...
This is my "coop" space with hanging feeder and drinker. Also got a nesting box but they're still too young to lay at the moment. This is we're I'm hoping to move the chicks in a week or so (going to add the chick feeder and baby bell drinkers. I'll also add some hidey holes so they can escape...
