Hello! I have some very rough sketches here, along with general information. I also have a list of questions, I would greatly appreciate help with. I am not much of a builder, and this is unlike anything my husband has done before, so we will both be learning...I am more of the researcher...
We were planning to go there, had great communication! However, I put the address into maps wrong the first time and when I double checked, the drive was 4 hours instead of 2 Not happening with a 4 year old! We went to Egg Well Farms in SC, an hour from Asheville.
Everyone's different! I had bad allergies as a kid, and my husband still does, so my daughter is probably more susceptible. I like just being able to roll the mess up. I've seen people use puppy pads, but I would think that gets expensive.
Hahaha, love it. I do wish I could put them a bit...
The only reason they're in the house is because I have no where else, it is far from ideal. Maybe I will put a plastic sheet over the door as an extra barrier
In that case:
General Leia our Light Brahma and big sister to the week olds
Wednesday our Dominique and top snuggler
Little Foot the Welsummer and Poppy the buff bantam
We also have Moon, the lavender amaracauna, and Moana the EE
No coop yet, working on it so it should be done soon. I'll look into the pellets, I've seen the feed store use them.
Yes, it is far from ideal. I think it may just be agitating early spring allergies, and residual issues brought home from preschool. I do my best to keep the door closed, and...
It would seem that my daughter is allergic to pine shavings, or that at least the dust us highly irritating. Honestly, the rest of us aren't dealing with it well either. Our brooder is in our master bath, small house (1100 sq ft.), too cold to keep them outside.
What are alternatives to pine...
That is a relief to hear! Of course a little more time will be the best tell. Everything I read seemed to contradict, thought I'd ask those with experience. She is a week old as well :)
Hello,
Very new to chickens but picked up a Dominique chick from a nearby hatchery. Was assured it was pullet due to head spot but after further review from various sources, I'm concern she may be a he. Which will be highly upsetting, as it is the most gentle bird, let's my four year old...
Thank you! I will do that!
Still somewhat up in the air! Large enough for 6, though we only have 5 chicks (and we can't be 100% that a couple of them are pullets). With a connected run, walk in height, and then an additional "free ranging" yard.
Thank you everyone!
