    Can hot weather precipitate flat egg laying? One hen seems to be doing it rather consistently.

    Six hens and six nest boxes, but only two are ever used. None of my girls ever squat at my approach. They usually run to see if I have anything for them in my hands. Some will allow me to pet their backs.

    I have 2 young blue Araucanas (born in March) that have never laid. The 2 Orpingtons and Australorps born at the same time have been laying consistently since their 20th week. I thought Araucanas were supposed to be good layers. What gives?
