USA to Stockpile Bird Flu Vaccines (Again)

Hey I just wanted to say that you don't need to worry about it being genetic modifications to people, it isn't! The way a mRNA vaccine works is by giving your cells mRNA, which is like the mRNA that is translated from your DNA in order for your cells to create proteins from amino acids. This...

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

It's also probably worth mentioning that they're all still acting completely normal, preening, arguing about if one couple gets to eat from the feeders near the nest, etc. And I have had birds out in previous years' smoke without any issue

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

Possibly, and looking at the car I think they'll fit, would the babies live without crop milk if I hand raised them? I doubt if I bring them that the parents would keep sitting on the eggs. And I also got the go ahead from who I'll be staying with to bring them if need be so that's good lol

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

It's mostly an issue of car space, I'm prioritizing animals that need care everyday to bring with me, I might be able to fit the pigeons in a cat carrier in the car, but they'll be stuck in that for the next several days. I don't think I could leave them with enough food/water in a dog crate...

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

My brother was helping, and all my friends live an hour+ away and some have already evacuated

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

Thank you so much! My dad threw out his back last week and when we tried to move it he couldn't, so it looks like I can't move them indoors. Maybe I should staple a blanket to the screen to try and filter some of the smoke? But I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make.

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

Actually I take that back, I have some dried quail eggs I could paint white in time to be dry before I leave, so I could probably switch them with those?

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

Yup! Exactly why I want to move them, but I'd like to know if I should take the eggs and stick them in an incubator or just leave them with the parents, I don't have any fake eggs sadly to replace them with so I can switch the eggs again later and I'll also be leaving because of the smoke for a...

Urgent! Heavy smoke and want to move pigeons on eggs indoors

Hi guys! There is an outrageous amount of smoke outside right now, so bad that I can barely see the neighbor's house down the hill and I would love to move my pigeon loft indoors for a few days until the air is clearer. The loft is small enough to be able to put the whole thing indoors, but I'm...

    Thinking of keeping homing pigeons

I know I haven't posted on here in forever but I finally got an egg! And the pair that laid it made their nest on the ground and happily get off their egg to go bully the hell out of any other pigeon trying to get some food/water, is there anything to do about that? Will they calm down a bit on...

    Thinking of keeping homing pigeons

I did build it! With some help from a couple friends too lol. The white female is probably not much over 6 months old I believe, but the older pair are both about 3 years old I think.

    Pigeon Mounted Camera

Really good point! That would be awful lol, I'm planning on training them with just the backpack and a little 30g weight at first to be sure they can handle it and don't freak out when the camera is on them. I'm really hoping I can train them to about 250 miles out so I can fly them from my...

    Thinking of keeping homing pigeons

I totally forgot to post the final loft! They seem pretty happy with it since the check x almond pair immediately claimed a nestbox and the white pair started mating within 10 minutes of being put in there lmao. Do you guys think I will get babies from them soon? I'm putting in nesting bowls today
