Hi guys! There is an outrageous amount of smoke outside right now, so bad that I can barely see the neighbor's house down the hill and I would love to move my pigeon loft indoors for a few days until the air is clearer. The loft is small enough to be able to put the whole thing indoors, but I'm worried my pair on eggs will abandon them, what do you all think? My dad, brother and I would just pick the whole thing up and move it 30 ft inside the house so it wouldn't take more than a couple minutes. We need to do this in the next hour or so before my dad and brother leave to get away from the smoke since it's making them so sick. Thank you so much for any help!!

Yup! Exactly why I want to move them, but I'd like to know if I should take the eggs and stick them in an incubator or just leave them with the parents, I don't have any fake eggs sadly to replace them with so I can switch the eggs again later and I'll also be leaving because of the smoke for a few days so I won't be able to do anything besides check on them with my camera. Plus there have been many blackouts nearby so if I can avoid risking putting them in an incubator that may go out either from storms or intentional blackouts I'd love to.

If you leave them outside, the smoke may kill them all. If you take them indoors and cover the cage, you might lose the eggs ... but you might not! Seems like a good trade off, to me. Regardless, make sure you and yours are safe. If you need to get away from the fires and smoke - DO IT before it becomes an afterthought! Birds and "stuff" are easier to replace than your life and health. Please be alert - and careful!

Thank you so much! My dad threw out his back last week and when we tried to move it he couldn't, so it looks like I can't move them indoors. Maybe I should staple a blanket to the screen to try and filter some of the smoke? But I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make.
