Brahma bantam may be a roo? Plus other chick pics.

Got word from the hatchery that the mystery chick is a silver penciled cochin bantam. Surprise cockerel, but glad he's going to be pretty.

More pics! The front of the legs are dark, but the bottom of the feet are quite yellow. Still baby feathers on the legs down to the toes. Wing feathers are pretty brown at tips and sort of laced/mottled on the interior.

Brahma bantam may be a roo? Plus other chick pics.

I should also mention that this chick has feathered feet. Here is the list from Cackle as to the "possible" breeds based on the pullet deal we order (but thinking this isn't a pullet?): Hatchery Choice Pure Breed 1 day old pullet bantams (80% sexing guarantee). May or may not be assorted...

Thanks for the response. Not sure if you can tell from the photos, but this chick has feathered feet, which is why I thought Brahma in the first place. The feet and legs are dark with feathers. Could he be a brahma mix with a wrong comb? Here are the "possibles" from the order I placed at...

Hoping someone with some brahma experience can tell me if this is a brahma chick, and guesses to the gender. I posted this on the gender/breed forum, but I think this is some specialized knowledge... I ordered the mixed breed five bantam pullet special from Cackle; they are about 3 weeks...

Here's a better pic of the comb - is it pea or straight? I don't think it's a Cochin.

am I a black sex link or a plymouth barred rock baby?? help please :)

My chicks are still in the brooder. We went outside for a 20 minute adventure and to take pics. Was in the 80s so I thought it would be a fun field trip. One of them even took a dust bath.

The comb looks like a pea comb; it certainly does not look like the same comb the other cochin chicks have. But I am not a comb expert.

am I a black sex link or a plymouth barred rock baby?? help please :)

That chick looks just like my plymouth barred rock! One white feather underneath and no discernible bars yet. I'm convinced she is a barred rock, but not convinced she is a she... Here's Stripes:

Brahma bantam may be a roo? Plus other chick pics.

I ordered the mixed breed five bantam pullet special from Cackle; they are about 3 weeks old. I also have three big barred rocks about the same age from McMurray. Of the bantams, we have two barred cochins, one partridge (or golden laced) cochin, and from what I can tell, one brahma, either a...

Sick chick - should I use sulfadimethoxene on the rest?

Little gal died tonight. Went down fast once she went. I put the rest of the four bantams on corid as a preventative. I have three other BR pullets that are four days younger from a diff hatchery in a different brooder. I though I might not put them on corid since they have never been exposed...

Sick chick - should I use sulfadimethoxene on the rest?

Here is the obligatory poo shot and a pic of my bedraggled. She's a dark brahma bantam, about 6 days old now. I think she may be on the wane but she's still eating and drinking from the dropper. Unbelievable. I really want her to pull through.

I should also say the poo is normal. Not bloody.

Sick chick - should I use sulfadimethoxene on the rest?

I got Corid yesterday about 2pm and have been feeding her through a dropper with the corid water and a slurry of crumble and water and electrolytes. I even got up every two hours in the night to feed and water her; she's not eating on her own. She is standing most of the time and won't lay down...

Thank you so much for the reply. Should I keep them on the medicated feed if I give them the Corid? Don't want to over medicate if I don't have to. In fact, I hate to give any meds if I don't need to; what are the chances this is indeed cocci?
