    I was thinking also of putting bales of straw around the base of my coop for the winter. The coop is raised and the chickens can go under there. It might add a wind block.

    Hello, I have 25 3 week old chicks and they are in a coop with 2 heat lamps. All are feathering and the coop has a door in the floor with a ramp. Under the coop is fully enclosed safe from you know who's. can I let them out it is going up to 75 today?

    Thanks for the info. I want to use treated lumber I am located in western New York, all kinds of crazy weather. But I'm glad to hear that they removed arsenic from treated lumber. So your chicks are all good?
