I checked her crop this morning, it was empty and she was hungry for breakfast. Her pupils look round/ normal. She's still really pale and lethargic.
Maybe a de-wormer??
Hi fellow Chicken People 😊
My orphington, Big Booty Judy, isn't feeling her best. She's lethargic and pale. I offered her electrolytes and probiotics, she drank it earlier but not now. I have looked for lice/mites but didn't see any (are they visible to the eye?). I also cleaned put the coop...
I would probably end up at a friend's or maybe a shelter. Either way, they would need a temporary coop. I have a small tent in my "Go" supplies. That's the only thing I could think of that's small, lightweight, and will keep them contained.
Thanks! Didn't think about waterers! I'm at the North end of San Diego County. There have been a bunch of fires yesterday/ today with 2 getting pretty big. They are throwing everything at them (multiple crews, planes, helicopters) which I'm so grateful for because they are containing/ getting...
That's a good idea to have them sleep in the crate! Mine come when called (but who knows if there was smoke) and are in their coop at night.
Do you have a hurricane "go bag" for them? If so what's in it? I have feed and bedding.
Have to say that I almost miss hurricane season! At least you...
Hi SoCal Chicken Friends!
I have had to evacuate due to wildfires 4 times over the last 15 years, but never with chickens. Have any of you? What did you do? Where did you go?
Most hotels accept dogs and waive any pet fees for evacuees. However, I'm not so sure that my flock of 5 would be...
I pulled them out of her cheek area. One bit was about a 1/2 long. The 2nd bit was about 3/4 inch.
The swelling is almost gone now. Still have no idea what happened ♀️
I pulled 2 things out of her face (cheek area), but nothing from the actual eye socket. The first thing (picture included in the 1st post) kind of looked like the hemp bedding... but that's just a guess. The 2nd thing was more tubular- kind of like a long blackhead.
Thanks!! I have flushed and pressed her face to no avail. She's really easy to handle/ doesn't mind me messing with her face, but I can't seem to get her to open her beak long enough for me to get a good look. Any tips??
Thanks so much!! I haven't pulled anything from the actual eye (picts...
Help! I'm at a loss on this one as I have never experienced it before. Half of my chickens face was swollen. I started with Vetericyn, then benadryl (1 dose), then Terramycin (7 days). It has been 11 days since the swelling started. It has decreased, but it's not gone.
I pulled 'something'...
