I have a great rake. Hadn't thought of using it on chickens - Thanks for the tip!

My one and only grandchild, Mira June, is not quite 2 1/2. She is adventurous and would no doubt love to go chicken grabbing. Unfortunately, now that she is very adept verbally, she probably would share her adventure in glorious detail with her parents (with embellishments for maximum effect)...

Roosting UP in a tree. Safer than on the ground, but my tree climbing days are well behind me. Not that I was exceptionally coordinated, I did love the joy of climbing. Falling out of a big ole tree caused me to have a lumbar laminectomy at the tender age of 16. I appreciate your idea. This...

What a pretty girl! I hope she finds her way back home or that someone will take her in. If I were set up, I would take her. My husband works in Fair Oaks so not too far.  Thanks. I have zero plan on how to catch her should anyone want her. But willing to learn and make it happen:)

No plans for chicks on my future. My 3 are the legal limit. More importantly, they are not one iota crowded and all 3 get along well. Adding more could tilt that perfect balance. I would be expanding for sure if we lived outside our small city lot.

Chicken found in Rocklin area. Over the past two weeks, she/he is hanging around my sister's work place. They hope to either reunite this chicken or do a forever home placement. Please contact me if you can help out!:weee My pullets are all laying. Cream, brown, and blue eggs are delighting us...

In good company! For the misinterpretations I catch myself making, usually the more sensational ones, I'm sure I've missed and mislead myself on plenty of others. Your story reminds me of DH and how he ended up being sent to sensitivity training. The HR gal at work came around collecting for...

Amen to that! Two of my 3 pullets are laying now - Inga lays cream colored and Ting's are light brown. Tilly is my hold out. She's about 24 weeks now and I hope to see an egg from her, soon. These 3 keep me entertained and occupied. Truthfully, I enjoy tending to them but know that more...

A couple of years ago, my husband needed a specific odd tool fitting. Found it on CL. Arranged to meet the seller downtown. Turns out they recognized each other. Item belonged to my brother and his friend was listing and selling stuff on CL for him. DH got the fitting for free. Small world...

Our cat is not interested in catching anything. At ripe age of 17, he has never killed a much as a fly. Zero interest in our chicks. Our yard is vermin free thanks to our little 16 pound terrier mix mut, Radar. A few years ago he dug under our shed. In the course of 3 days he eradicated a...

Lucky you! Glad you learned the ID of your predator the easy way. Not that I envy you having to trap it. That shrunk reminds me the neighbors are wondering if my chickens are the reasons we have skunks around. Not even thinking that skunks are always around, but this year is bad. I patiently...

X2. Nikon, your crazy little egg makes me smile. Our second ever egg was larger than the subsequent ones and it proved to be a double yolk when I cracked them for lunch today . Bantam eggs are small but they definitely taste great. I can't wait until Inga and Tilly get their acts together...

Lazy morning - my excuse, catching up on BYC Welcome to all new to this thread. Love seeing all the egg, chick, and kitty pics. Congrats to all with first eggs. Only my bantam Cochin is laying. Perfect light brown eggs. My bigger two, Norwegian Jaerhon and Cream Legbar, are healthy and...

Agree 100%! My FIL lived with us up until the last few months of a full life. He craved sweets, loved his bacon, and could not go without his daily baked goods fix. The last few months at home he fell one time too many due to being noncompliant with his walker "That THING is going to impail...
