Guess this is the first time i've had a hen go broody.. lost all but two of the birds i had in the yard to a hawk.. one is a young rooster that just has found his crow this week and a white leghorn hen thats a year old i know they're not ones to go broody but guess it can happen

got my 3rd batch in the incubator now.. set 12 outta the backyard on 2/27 .. glad i did.. lost my rooster and 4 hens to a hawk or hawks as my best guess would be.. they were ok yesterday morning when i left for work yeterday and when i came home 3 hours later.. something had tore the heads off...
will take as long as they need, hatching off some right now had 13 of 36 so far today got several more pipped right now mine are raising all kinda ruckus right now in the brooder beside the bed hopefully they will calm down so i can sleep

hoping the humidity comes on up, set 36 kinda randomly candeled them and seen they were still kickin couple of days ago, guess i'll update with pics hopefully, got to set up a big brooder now which is what i was thinking i was going to do this weekend, guess it'll be on the plate for tonight...
forgot to write down the date i set my eggs; went into check them and after candling 6 i see one is pipped, didnt go into lockdown as i was thinking it'd be the first of next week before they hatched but looking back the timing is obviously right, hopefully i will still have a decent hatch...
this was my first attempt at hatching set 18 from the backyard flock had 7 hatch, i am all and all happy! more than likely go at it again this weekend after i get everything cleaned up.
