I wish there was a way to catch them all, free food. Too bad the girls are roosting when they all come out. Any one know how to build an effective cricket trap? I remember as a kid my dad had one we would set out at night to catch bait for fishing in the morning.- GreatWhiteAfro

Help! My coop is overflowing with CRICKETS! I went out there last night and there were hundreds of crickets in the run, in the coop, everywhere! What can I do ? I obviously don't want to spray any pesticides, what are some alternatives?- GreatWhiteAfro

Nice!!! I usually get 2 a day right now but one of my girls didn't lay today....she has a habit of laying in the early afternoon, and I think the heat just didn't agree with her today. Nice egg! From what I've read the color is the last thing to go on the egg and its not out of the ordinary to get a speckled egg once in a while especially since she just started laying as well. I'm no expert, just repeating the info I've read.- GreatWhiteAfro

Wow, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family's of those firefighters. We got rain and lots of wind here in Casa Grande, enough to cool the girls off in the coop. I had to move their water inside the coop because the wind keeps blowing it over!!- GreatWhiteAfro

Had to turn on the misters early today, its gonna be a scorcher today. The girls did lay this morning though! Also with all this grass talk...I'm considering putting some sod in my run to help with the mud from running the misters all day, thoughts from you all are appreciated!- GreatWhiteAfro

So I grew some wheat grass fodder for my girls and put in the run last night for them to enjoy since they seem to like my new little grass sprouts I'm trying to grow in the yard, and they didn't even touch the wheat grass!!! My coop is so much quieter now that my RSL is gone! I must have lucked out with my EE's cause they are quiet, and my sweet BA's, I can't wait for them to start laying. The RSL I rehomed today started laying today, I found a small odd shaped egg with a thin shell where she lays in the run. Ohh...- GreatWhiteAfro

Ha!! Yeah, I was out near the coop the other morning when one of my EE's was laying and she was quiet and calm, it was that RSL in the coop being super noisy and bothering the laying girls!! The other thing to worry about is a lot of grass seeds out there now days have some type of anti-fungal coating and also a coating that is supposed to help retain moisture. Right on the bag it says do not use the seeds as feed. I'm successfully growing grass around my coop right now!! I just...- GreatWhiteAfro
