I have used a ceramic heater and straight wire the fan and let it run all the time and
then put the thremostat in line with the heating element they work great you can use a
waffer thermostat or go to home depot and get a thermostat that goes in a hot water heater
they work well also i have...

Just had a skunk kill two marans pulletts and two silkie hens now i have only one silkie

I did not finish reading the hatcher part i have built three of those on the same design as the sportsman
and i used the same heater you are speaking of wireing the fan on constant and placeing the thermostat
in line with the heating element you can also you a electric themorstat that go in...
I tryed to use a small electronic thermostat out of a small incubator the problem
was the heating element used to many watts and the thermostat started smoking
so if you make sure it will handle the wattage of the heating element it should work

Well i have tryed several different humidity settings i hatch a lot of marans eggs and they come off each
week i have the humidity set at 50 % and it is working great if i go higher the chicks get stickie and
dont hatch well this also is not to high for new chicks and wont drownd them {gqf...
