I bought a heated bucket from Amazon, its works wonders, I placed it in an old tire so they get up and reach the water, I have to admit with the cold weather we have had in -40 it started to freeze. I love it though sure saves having to go out and keep refilling the water.
First time this year I bought a heated bucket off of Amazon, love it, they always have water now and my girls love water. I sit it in an old tire and they can get up on the tire out of the snow, its great.
I saw an article where you take a bucket and and place it in an old tire, stuff the tire with insulation like bubble wrap and its supposed to keep it from freezing, maybe google it,
Hi everyone! really cold here minus high 30's with wind and severe frost bite warnings.
I use pine shaving (not sure about the straw as mentioned above) I use the layer method until I get a warm enough day and remove it all and put new stuff.
This year I decided to use a heated bucket and its...
I have a four year cochin (Meredith), I saw her limping and checked out her foot, I'm not sure what it is, because of her slippers she wears, looks almost like she has stepped in chicken poo and it has gotten hard, its about 2 inches of hard like rock, I soaked her foot in warm water for about...
I've read, If the shells are still intact, the eggs can be thawed in the refrigerator and used in a thoroughly cooked dish such as scrambled eggs or hard-cooked eggs. Other uses are limited because once frozen the consistency of the egg yolk changes from a liquid to a solid (much like a hard...
I checked this thread out this morning as our eggs are sometimes frozen but now I had them for breakfast and they were really good. Cracked ones go to the dogs though. Thanks for the thread.
Here is a picture I just took of the chicken and duck coop after the snow yesterday, they were out in the sun and have all now gone inside to stay warm.
First, I heard that putting straw down in a chicken coop is not preferable. I have one coop with my girls in and they have wood shavings, but I have some polish hens that have been raised now with my four Indian runners and I think I will keep them together because they get along so well in...
Don't quote me on this but I have 5 polish chicks and found out one is a roo, he tries to cock a doodle doo, so funny but also he has like two little horns starting on his head which I think is indicitive of a polish rooster.??
Im not sure I'm in the right place but here goes. I have some polish hens and I found out I have a roo, he's cute and friendly so I might just keep him lol never had polish chickens before, their wattles looks familiar but the comb is really weird looking, looks like he is a little devil with...
I have four Indian runners, I only know what I've learned from here re ducks. Now in the winter its gets cold here, I have made a wonder coop and yard for them. Now for the winter I know they need water, I'm wondering do you guys have any ideas of what kind of water bowl and food bowl would be...
