Thanks I'll try the Blukot. I need heat for the water, it was into the teens this week here in Va. They are in a 7X10 coop with a 10X12 run area for now. I haven't let them out to free roam in the afternoons yet. It looks like it is starting to heal. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks
I have 4 Gold Laced Orpington hens about 14 weeks old and just saw that the back of ones head is injured I think from pecking even tho I don't see any pecking going on when I'm there. What do you put on the injury and how do you protect it till it heals. I know isolation is probably the best but...

I have 6 buff orpingtons for laying eggs, this spring I want to take 2 of them and hopefully one hen will brood pheasant eggs and the other to brood quail eggs. I have a 5X5 closure for roosting then it opens to a 5x8 wire closure then a door so they can be let out to free range. My question is...
I guess what i'm trying to say is which way would get me the strongest lineage a rooster and a hen from different broods or use a rooster and hen out of the same batch of egg. I would not cross breeds. Thanks
I would like to breed silver laced and golden laced orpingtons with a good genetic pool. Greenfire Farms is suppose to have a very good line for orpingtons. My question is would it be better for me to get a rooster and the hens from different broods or doesn't it matter that much if they are out...
