I have a mixed flock of 2 week old chicks. 25 Cornish X and 10 NH reds. Will it hurt the NH reds to remove food at night for the Cornish X? Should I separate them?
My flock is sick. They are around 1 year old and about 3 weeks ago a few of them started sneezing. I cleaned the coup and gave them Sulmet for 3 days. for one day after that they stopped sneezing so I thought I cured them but the next day sneezing again. The guy at the feed store told me to try...
My Flock has been sneezing for around 2 weeks now. I have given them some sulfer-somthing solution and it hasn't helped. What meds should I be giving them?
I have around thirty NH Reds about one year old. Around two weeks ago I noticed some of them sneezing. More and more of them started doing the same thing and the feed store people told me they had a respiratory infection and gave me a bottle of Sulmet (Sulfamethazine Sodium 12.5% drinking water...
I have a similar situation. One of my 2 week old chicks is lame. She lays on her side and appears to have trouble walking. She will move away when I reach to grab her but then lays down again. I believe she was dropped when being held. I noticed this last night and put her in a box this morning...
So the washing thing didn't work. I started gently pulling it off and it seems to work great. Also put in a second light. I was supprized at how much brighter the new bulb was. I guess they are only good for one brooding. Lesson learned. Thanks for the advice.
The are under a light but I'm having a hard time stabilizing the temp. The outside temp went down to 40 last night and is now in the eighties.. Anyway when I was cleaning them last night It felt cold and even though my thermometer said 90 my hands were cold so I didn't want to get them wet. I...
I have got my batch of chicks and yesterday I lost one and today one. I noticed some of them have pasting around their vent. I read you should wash this off but I'm afraid it is too cold to get the chicks wet.. Can I pick it off or should I leave them alone? Are they sick?

That mean roo will not stop attacking. If you have kids the safest thing to do is feed them a rooster for sunday dinner.
My chickens have always slept outside in the run. Since I'm in So Cal it isn't that big of a deal but I have tried moving the perch inside and they just perch on the run fence instead. They seem to like sleeping outside best.
I have placed two orders with Cackle and my first one has matured. They are great looking birds. My second hatch was just recieved today. They look great, all alive and moving around. I would recommend Cackle to anyone ordering chicks.
