I haven't posted in quite a while. Our oldest gets married in March 25', our middle got married in June and my youngest is a Sr. She will play college softball , so managing our children becoming adults.

@K0k0shka they will mate with who they want when they want, even if the other party is not interested. Some of the behavior is to assert dominance as the flock leader.
I definitely agree that genetics, breeder, what the birds are being bred for is also a big factor and sample size.
For example I've only had two Wyandottes , so my sample size is small. Both birds were super flighty. Probably not an accurate assessment of the breed.

Hands down of my hens, Bielefelders are the friendliest breed , but in general all of my "heavy breeds" are friendly. My # 2 would be my RIR (Cackle Exhibition). My #3 would be Orpingtons. My colored egg layers are nervous / flighty (CCL , Opal Legbar , Olive egger)

I've had my Bielefelders for 5 years now. I bought mine from a private breeder. This is my experience.
They are very calm birds. I have not had any issues with either my girls or boy. Most of the time you can just walk up to them and pick them up.

Embarrassingly I can’t tell the RIR eggs from the BA. I have 4 RIR and 2 BA and a couple others that share two nest boxes. The egg color and shape are very similar. Hopefully I will see some differences in the chicks when they hatch.
