I sat 25 eggs on October 10th and as of tonight we have successfully hatched out 24 of those eggs. Sad, one could not hold its head up or put weight on its legs so DH did the right thing and humanely culled it.
One egg is still in the bator, but, I am not expecting it to hatch, and will...
the main problem it sounds like is your humidity on the last couple of days. I raise the humidity to 85% very simply. I take a large sponge and I wet it, then I zap it into the microwave and toss it in the bator. I usually do that just on day 21 as they start pipping so the membrane does not...
so why even stop nature taking its course? if she is broody, she will sit on the eggs, she will hatch her babies, she will teach them to eat and drink and scratch. no one should have to do anything. just leave her be, tell kids and hubby do not disturb her, and come back to a nice surprise.
I set 32 eggs on October 10th and I candled on October 14th because I had the turner stop turning the eggs. I did not really see the air cells then, however tonight is October 17th and I had to do a candle again because I had a power outage and the temps dropped extremely low. I was lucky I...
remember, to create humidity, it is not the depth of the water, it is the amount of surface area covered with water, so even just a very little bit in the bottom will work just fine as long as it covers enough surface area.

It was hard to get a good picture with him pacing back and forth so frantically trying to get in.
When we opened the door to the breeding pen, he ran inside like...
WOW!!!! No way would I ever have that kind of money to invest in chickens, or any thing else for that matter.
I purchased my first chickens (26) of them for 75 dollars.
I built 2 runs one for the girls and one for the boys.
The lumber cost me a total of $40.00
The fencing cost me all of $35.00...
