    Anyone set yesterday or today?

I set 6 eggs yesterday, mixed Buff Cochin and Weyendotte. Only 6 cause I sold a friend 6 chicks and she did not have her coop quite ready and something got them all. She has redone her coop so these will be hers. Nancy

    FAMACHA Clinin in East Tennessee

Quote: I would check with other goat owners in your area to see what works for them. I use Cydectin here with good success using the FAMACHA method. I don't have a microscope and with 20-25 goats on the farm year round, I cant afford for a Vet to do the fecals every 3-4 months. Right now we...

    FAMACHA Clinin in East Tennessee

The experts at all the Vet. Hospi9tals are saying that worming on Schedule whether the goat needs it or not is what is causing super worms. That is why safeguard no longer works and several others are on the verge of not protecting our animals against the barberpole worm, which is a blood...

    FAMACHA Clinin in East Tennessee

FAMACHA is a method of deciding who may need worming. It is not a replacement for fecal checks, more of a aid to the producer.

    New Nest Boxes

I have been dragging in old cast off double sinks and begging DH to take the old tin lizzy out of the hen house so he finally did. There are 3 double sinks in there now, only 2 in the picture as I just could not get the camera angle right. The girls don't seem to use anything but the middle...

Lots of chicken poo on eggs

Thanks, these are for eating and I sell the extras. What I did was to wipe off as much as I could with a paper towel. Then I used a warm cloth and got the rest off. Most of the poo appeared to be from a broke egg that caused poo to stick and the paper towel got the majority of the poo off. Got...

DE- PLEASE, someone tell me if they have had a bad experience!

I read that DE works by cutting the hard shell of bugs causing them to dehydrate. It is not supposed to harm soft tissue. If it was dangerous to soft tissue then you could not use it internally for any animal. I do use it in my garden and on the barn floor. Nancy

Lots of chicken poo on eggs

This has most likely been delt with here but I could not find where. We moved the chickens from free range (11 all total) to the coop in order to keep them out of the garden. For laying we have one of those old tin lizzy things that is way too small for my birds and almost impossible to...

Blu-kote backfired - help! (pics added)

Just thought I would throw in a hint here, my goatmilk soap removes blu-kote from skin. I am not sure if it is the goatmilk or the lye.

    How do you fatten Roos?

The buttermilk is a new one for me on worming, I must be worm free cause I love the stuff LOL. Really though I have not read that before. Do you combine the 2 items? I have read about pumpkin seeds as a natural wormer for goats. I don't like using chemicals unless I have to.
