    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

First egg! I didn't think my hens were old enough to lay an egg yet so I hadn't even set up nest boxes!

Delaware that is not a Delaware

Thank you, that was my guess as well. Especially since they sold leghorns at that same store so I figured they got mixed up.

Delaware that is not a Delaware

Hi everyone, I bought 2 "Delaware" pullets from a farm supply store. One is no longer looking like a Delaware. It is solid white, no black markings like its sister. Longer tail which points straight up, yellow legs. What do you think?

    Too cold?

I was just about to ask this exact same question about my 6 and 8 week old chickens that I put out this week. Thanks, i now have my answer from this thread! Your chickens look great!

    Barred rock, but is it?

These 2 buff orps are still so.....neutral.... I can't even tell them apart, let alone tell their sex! 5 weeks old

    Barred rock, but is it?

Update: so here are the mysterious BR or Australorp or something black chickens at 8 weeks. One has much more pink on the comb and face than the other. Is that one looking more rooster? "She" is the one in the front

    Barred rock, but is it?

Are there any particular Australorp characteristics that help determine sex at this age?

    Barred rock, but is it?

Even better, 2 in 1 lol. Their wing primary feathers are mostly white, if that means anything.

    Barred rock, but is it?

Interesting! I was actually thinking about adding a couple Australorps so I am totally happy if that is the case.

    Barred rock, but is it?

Hi, I got 4 chicks from a local ranch (not ranch store, but actual ranch). 2 buff orps and 2 barred rock. The BR should be about 6 weeks now. I've looked through many forums here and they don't look much at all like what ya'll describe - I don't see barring, head spots, etc. I assume that means...

New member new to chickens metro dweller

Hi! We have a similar problem with feral cats and we also have a pit bull mix whom I am slowly introducing to our chicks. Thanks for the shock collar idea, I think I will try that out!
