Well, we topped out at four and it looks like everything else quit. But they're four adorable little chickies! And they seem to be eating and drinking just fine in between crashing on the bottom of the tank and crashing on the teddy bear, so we're happy I have a favorite already! This was my...

Thanks, guys. I'm gonna go get a few bags of concrete tomorrow and give that a shot. I may hit TSC and pick up live traps too.. I saw they had a few on sale. And asap in the Spring they'll move out of the barn and into an actual coop. I hope to not have this happen ever again. The bright spot...

Quote: No problem! Egg's out of the fridge, so no development obviously.. I just grabbed it to see what I can see. I look forward to setting a few later on and seeing what I can see then! Forgive my photography skills. I tried to get pictures without glare.

Wolftracks, congratulations on the marans eggs! And I would love to try and hatch an emu egg... no idea what I'd do with it though. I saw them on eBay and just.. . I mentioned it last night. My husband GLARED at me. I don't think I'll be doing that any time soon. I told him, when I first set up...

Debi, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's husband. That was the first thing I saw getting in here this morning, what a terrible loss. I hope they can find comfort in knowing that while he's no longer with them, he's at peace.

Sumatra, I would love to see those pictures Out of curiosity, why are eggs always shipped via USPS? Can they go through FedEx or UPS? I wonder if they would have better chances with another carrier in certain parts of the country where perhaps the PO has a habit of mishandling the packages.

Quote: No way! How long do they stay colored? Where in the egg do you inject it, does it go into the air sac and then sink in? And what size hypodermics do you use? I want to see some colored chicks! And I want to try this

I'm just catching up! I have a few belated comments... sorry I'mlate! Wolftracks -- my husband doesn't eat eggs, period. My live-in-mother-in-law buys her own.. she grew up on a farm, but won't eat fresh eggs from our chickens. My father will eat them if I guarantee he won't find blood spots...

Quote: Those quail are cute little buggers. What do you raise them for? Do they have much personality? Do you cook their eggs? Just pets? Hope it's not a stupid question.. I'm just curious and under-informed on this subject
