    Wow, I haven't been on in a few days, and I'm too far behind to even try to catch up. My 8 week old EE flew into the back yard with my dog, and she killed it. It was my only EE. It had feathered legs and was super sweet. I feel like the worst chicken mom ever. :hit

    I've recently started spraying my eggs with a 50/50 mixture of water and gold Listerine. It's supposed to kill any bacteria that could harm the developing chick. My first batch of eggs that I tried this with just went into lockdown, and none of them were early quitters.

    Thanks Sally! It's definitely an odd ball. The eggs were large end up during incubation, so I have no idea how this happened.

    Buy a bigger incubator than you think you'll need (if you haven't bought one already). Hatching is addicting. And make sure you know how to assist with a hatch unless you just want to let nature take it's course.
