We got the humidity to around 35%. We haven't even reached the 24 hour mark yet. Temps are holding stead in the LG 9300 at around 101.6 on top of the eggs. (Calibrated thermometer using ice water method) Should we keep messing with it trying for the 102?

I'm having trouble visualizing the whole thing... Like a blue 55g plastic barrel, or like the clear 275g plastic cube container... IDK I think I'll let someone make one then look at the picture lol

Just cut a 50 gal barrel ( or 30 gal. if that's what you have) in half lengthways, lay half of it on its side, cut an access door @ ground level, maybe cut a window, like MC just suggested, & you're good to go!

Hey Yall,
Just wanted to let yall know why I aint been on so much.

My Pops is back in the Hospital.

He's on borrowed time with a failed heart, at 52.

He was given 6 months - 2 years. This was almost 4 years ago.

I dont know how "serious" it is this time, But recognizing the borrowed time, you just dont know what time will be the "Last."

Love Yall :hugs

:hugs
I'm sending you virtual hugs and my thoughts will be with you. I understand (unfortunately I lost my mom to cancer 10 years ago when she was 63 and my dad is 76 now and his bloodwork came back wonky last week so follow up tests the rest of the month). May your time with your dad be well spent and memories be made.

I wouldn't mess with it. Throughout the day it may fluctuate and if you aim for 102 it might spike to 104.

Ohhhh! I like the idea of lowering the heat lamp through the top of the barrel, and maybe even having the cord come up through the lid to keep the light from splashing all over the coop ( this is a problem for a few reasons). Then just cutting out an access door towards the bottom of the barrel.
As I said, I had actually been considering this yesterday.

Hey Jack!
I'm sorry your Dad's having to go through that. Mine was also given 6 months...congestive heart failure. He came to live with us & lived another year & a half before he died in our living room @ 84. I hope your Dad's as fortunate. My thoughts are definitely with you, your Dad, & your entire family.

Hey y'all, I need some help. I have an Ancona duckling that hatched out yesterday, and it has a messed up foot. I should've taken pictures before I tried to splint it, but it's too late now and it took me too long to do to unwrap it now. The way it's holding it looks like a slipped achilles, but the achilles looks fine. It's what I guess is a tendon that runs down the front of the leg and into the middle toe that appears to be messed up. I doesn't want to hold straight, and there's definitely a little bit of tension when I straighten it out. Does anyone have any ideas? Right now I have a peice of cardboard bandaged like a shoe and it's lower leg wrapped.
