hi all day 21 and we have had 12 hatch so far one has sadly passed id been taking them out when dry into brooder i went out for few hours and came back to find 3 more hatched 2 of them were pecking at the dead one which was covered in blood dunno if they had done damage or it hatched that way on...
no this is the first time at any chicks at all decided we would inc so did that first and got the 15 eggs in there they not in tray all doing what they should the my hen decided to go broody and rather than take eggs out of inc and give her i put some new ones in she has been sitting for a week...
the first one i have 15 eggs in inc and due to go into lock down tom i take it i just leave them to it i know i dont have to turn them in this time and up humity any thing else?
and 2 i have a broody hen which was sitting on 6 eggs i say was as one as vanished do they kick out bad ones so to say...
that brill idea as my other girls do tend to want to lay in box that she is in at mo just need some wire mesh gloves then and if it wont hurt her staying there ill leave her i guess
i got what i think is a broody hen she has turned nasty when i tried to get eggs out today if i want to let her go natural do i leave her where she is or move her away from flock i have already got 15 eggs in inc that are due in 9 days so can put her eggs if if she stops any ideas
candled eggs on day 4 this it what it looks like im taking it that this is a good sign lol and we have life how often am i meant to candle? and cant see into a 3 as shells to dark is it ok to leave them in just incase ? and have 3 that i cant see veins in shall i take them out ? but the other 10...
no eggs in it yet it only been running for 24hrs and it one of the polystyrene box ones i will have to manually turn eggs etc just dont want to get this wrong before we even started as kids would be upset if we didnt get one chick out the 16 lol
i now got 6 lovely girlies in backgarden all doing well next step to try incubation of the breeds i would like only im have a tad bit of trouble raising humidity in incubater
hi all im very new to all of this i have just got my first incubator to try hatch our own chicks to add to our flock the temp in inc is spot on but my humidity is only at 25% and ideas on how to up it please x
