Yes! I’ve separated the Cochin and left the rest. I’ve left 2 eggs with her, the only 2 she will sit on since becoming broody, and she immediately sat on them. Thank you once again ☺️.
Thank you so much. I’ve never really thought of that, on how their personality plays in how they raise. I’ve always thought all chickens raise their young the same or similar. Immediately my gut feeling was to separate but then I started over thinking and wanted to just leave the chick since it...
It’s her first time along with the buff Silkie and D’anvers. But the Cochin has never pecked at others chicks, in fact she would try and call others chicks to feed. And the Buff silkie and D’anvers immediately took the chick in, which is why I didn’t think it had to do with being a first time...
Hellooooo everyone, I hope everyone is doing great and has an amazing beginning of a new week.
When my girls go broody, it’s usually in the coop or whatever hiding spot they find in the run (one time inside a tire, and even a flower pot). I find that letting them hatch in their home, the...
Well isn’t that one happy ending! 😃
My whole curiosity began cause one of my hens started sneaking out of their run but I wasn’t aware of it. I found a huge clutch of her eggs, 18 to be exact. And when I found them I found her sitting on them. I wasn’t sure if she was actually trying to hatch...
Good afternoon everyone, I hope all is well. I couldn’t find anything in regards to my question so here I go. Has anyone tried/been successfull incubating chicken eggs after sitting out for a couple of weeks, possibly a month? If so how did it turn out? All I can imagine are eggs going bad but I...
Thank you for your feedback 😊. I feel stressed leaving them when we do even though there’s someone home. Even when I’m home I won’t let them free range unless outside with them. A neighbor behind us, for years has his flock free, they sleep in the trees and just come down at night and In the...
Good morning everyone 🌞
Has anyone ever had or has to often, be away from home for a day or so, meaning their flock stays home alone (coop party 🎉 🐓😅) without anyone caring for them for whatever reason it may be? If so, what do you do to prepare for them to be alone that or those days?
Since...
Oh she took her sweet time. The way she’d walk and pose and how voluptuous she is made me imagine her walking in a long diva robe all dramatic 😂.
She’s back to herself though strutting her half feathered tail. I’ve seen her chasing off squirrels and when she catches me looking at her she’ll...
Thank you, It is a lesson learned but no regrets here 💗. Unfortunately a couple days after re-homing them, 3 of the 5 passed. The ones who remained were later re-homed after they perked back.
