    I ordered 40 broilers from a well known hatchery. Within 2 days about 50% were dead. They refused to correct the situation because they arrived alive. From now on I'm only trusting my own hatchlings!

    one week later the "skin" is put on my coop. I still need to work on windows, doors, ramp to run, and a lot of extras. While I work the hens come around to inspect the work. They cock their head approvingly or disaproving. They peck at my hammer and peck my back once in a while.

    I have to admit that I am a scavenger. I got permission from a contractor to have all the old shingles I can find around his place. Unfortunately I had to pay $25 a sheet (5) for t-111 at Lowes as well as about $50 for paint. When I'm done I hope to have less than $300 in the 4x6 coop.

    Thanks for the feedback. I'm keeping the roo for a week or so to see if anyone in the Rossville Ga area claims him. He is very gentle and has a real weight of 8.8 lbs. I was called to pick him up brefore a coyote or fox got him.

    This chicken was terrorizing a subdivision with his frequent crowing. I was called on to remove the bird. The bird is over 10 lbs and extremely gentle. He crows incessantly. From the one picture can anyone give me an idea what general breed is this Roo?

    Dying Quail...

    Quail are weird. I lost one this morning when I inadvertently put a feeder on top of one. I also had a 2 day late hatch that I broke open on a log and an embryo came out on the ground. It is now one of my biggest jumbos!
