Good evening from California. It's been years since I've used this account, and it's unfortunate it's for something as serious as this.
Before I go into detail, I want to start out stating that my chickens are my pets and I'm not culling my flock regardless of prognosis. Now that that's been...
Thought I'd post something cute and interesting. This is my Phoenix cockerel doing what he loves to do
Nurture baby chicks like he was a mama himself
Whoops even a rescue duckling. There's about 7 chicks in there and most of them are under him.
Has anyone ever seen something like this...
Just thought i'd update! She had the nodule drained of some stingy clearish pus stuff and is being given antibiotics. She seems like she felt the relief of the pressure being gone immediately and is now living on a farm with some other white chinese as she recuperates.
Okay, so as usual the bleeding heart within my soul has struck and I have found a goose, which appears to me to be a White Chinese female goose, in desperate need of aid.
Things to know first and what exactly I am looking for by posting here.
1.) Yes I know I need a vet, can't do that...
Sorry for late replies! Very busy. Well, I got the bantam size, since she's an oegb mix. I bought the over the tail type one, they said it covers more and I'd have to agree it works really nice.
Alrighty, I'll get a pic of her as soon as I can.
I ordered from Avian Fashions
http://www.avianfashions.com
And I would recommend them. I like her diaper, it has two plastic liners that come out to be washed.
I also happened to get an adorable patchwork one.
And yes, that's why I...
Well, I have one I bought from avian fashions for my oegb girl Aiko, she's not terribly fond of it, but she deals with it. I got a over-the-tail full body wrap one. My experiences have been good, but duck/goose diapers were easier to apply to my waterfowl babies than chicken diapers were to put...
The reason they don't want you to give "Super Worms" or "King Worms," which are, as I am assuming, they very large variety of meal worms to your birds is because:
They have large mandibles that can pierce through your chicken's crop or damage their stomach.
I'm sure cutting off the...
How old is your chick? I get the green and white poop from the new hatchlings for a few days before they get kickstarted into gear. As for your chick, I would continue to do what you are doing. Some just don't thrive and some are a real battle to have live.
Did you buy your chicks? order them...
While this subject has been already clarified, I feel inclined to add:
That is common for some species, like male ducks pair up often during mating seasons and sometimes even make nests. Mallards are actually quite known for it. As for being "gay," animals don't have perceptions of sexuality...
My precious Aiko woke me up this morning CROWING.
Kisses aren't the only unique thing about this girl….
but dem kisses, wowowow
….WHAT.
I know some hens crow, but I didn't really expect it, and I hadn't ever actually seen it, but I did today.
Her crow was different from the rooster's...
Yeah that's my plan exactly. My guy tells me the leftover chick is a cockerel, he's yellowish, and all the yellowish chicks I had from the line he comes from have been roos. He's a bantam so I want to get a bantam buddy, silkie if possible, but I won't be too picky. Thank you guys though.
