Rooster won't let the new pullets out!

The Run is about 9 x 10 feet......I think it’s only been the past week that the chicks have been brave enough to try and go outside.

Rooster won't let the new pullets out!

:clapThat made me laugh. I also keep thinking the same especially since this new batch of chicks are a full size breed and the others are bantam! They are all about the same size right now even with the 4 month difference. I will try to lock him up, they do have a place to go but since they...

Rooster won't let the new pullets out!

Great, thanks! So this behavior should just run it’s course then? Introducing new chicks into the flock has been a longer process than I had anticipated!

Rooster won't let the new pullets out!

I have an established flock made up of five hens and one rooster with all of them being 7 months in age. Got the new pullets in March so they are now about 10 weeks old. Transitioned them successfully, they have been living together in the coop although still all real tentative about each other...

Any idea on the possible breed of this pullet?

I had hatched a batch of chicks from a neighbor who has a mix of Barred Rock and astralorpes. This is the only Brown chick that hatched and since it doesn't look like any of the others I'm not sure if maybe there's a different breed mixed in somewhere? It's feet are gray like the other...

    How much heating assistance?

I put them in over the weekend and they did great! The coldest it got in there was about 42 degrees when the overnight temperature was around 29. They seem quite happy, they're very quiet, as far as no excessive chirping or huddling together. Thanks for your help!

    How much heating assistance?

Our 9 chickens are now between the ages of 10 and 8 weeks...they have been in a play pen turned brooder in our house all this time. They haven't had a heat lamp in around a month and it doesn't get below 60 degrees where they are now. Our chicken coop Renovations are finally done and I want to...

    Should I try more?

So I did go by Vitamin E oil as well as electrolytes and nutri-drench. Gave him dropperfuls every hour or so all day. No improvement at all. He is breathing and will drink but will not stand up on his own or move very well. I don't think he will make it through the night. Thanks everyone for...

    Should I try more?

I am hatching my first batch of chicks ever. 3 hatched perfectly normal then I mistakenly lost track of the humidity. One started hatching but the low humidity must have already taken its toll. It managed to break a good amount of the shell but the membrane was still stuck around it with a...
