Help, Shipped eggs, air cell on bottom of egg!

Thank-you Cannyschicks We did a few things, we kept they settled for 24 hour then put them in the incubator and kept the turner off for 2 days. Also got in touch with the egg supplier and was told they were not candled before packaging so, one was the same size on both sides so we knew that...

Help, Shipped eggs, air cell on bottom of egg!

Yes plan to do that, but has anyone had the air cell on the opposite end, seen on shipped eggs, misshaped and on side cells but can't find anything on them being on the bottom.

Help, Shipped eggs, air cell on bottom of egg!

Just received shipped eggs, had 5 cracked, 3 of them badly. Have 26 eggs left. Air cells on almost all seem loose and some as I have looked up saddle shaped. Been sitting now for 7 hours and some are starting to come around to normal. 3 have air cells on the bottom (pointy end of the egg)...

    Weighing eggs?

Congrats on your fluffy babies, with hopes of more to come. If the one egg that has piped is slow, that is fine, they can sit there for up to 24 hours to get up the strength to make a break for it. When they start to zip that usually is done in 2 hours or less. As for the white eggs...

    Weighing eggs?

We don't really dry hatch!! We are running two different hova-bators. First few years the 2364 and we followed the directions of humidity and for our australorp chicks it worked perfect 40-50% start. Then we got another breed E.O.'s and that didn't work well at all the chicks were big and...

    Weighing eggs?

I am totally interested in this!!! I just asked this question not more then a few hours ago!! Was looking for what the weight loss should be at the end of day 18 going into lockdown. I have been weighing the eggs for the last 3 years and doing this but used the numbers of 13% in 21 days which...

    % weight loss

We do watch the air cells also but I find that 1 person can look at it and say yes it is on track like the diagram and another will say no it is off. Both hubby and I are active in the hatching but as anyone with partners know we don't always see things the same. ha ha. The math is a hard...

    % weight loss

Question on % of weight loss method when hatching eggs? I have been trying to do this for the past few years and have been working with 13% loss in 21 days so approx . 62% per day. BUT IS THIS CORRECT? My last candle and weigh in is always the end of day 18, so what % loss do I want there...

I know what you mean, when we first heard of them in 2013 we had to do some research. We have the Euskal Oiloa Marraduna's. They have to be the most friendly chicken known. You feel the love everytime you go around them and have to shuffle your feet not to step on them!
