The mice are driving me nuts. They are tearing open bags, climbing in and out of cabinets and I don't know how to get rid of them. Have tried to ultrasonic to no avail. Almost seems worse. Really do not want poison in the barn. Any ideas?
Cackle Hatchery or Murray Mc Murray? Had good luck with Cackle ( healthy and did not lose one) but they do not have all the chicks I want. Should I go with
Mc Murray? Need some feedback please.
Even though it's winter half of my hens are laying. The other day I collected the egss and one was perfectly formed but soft like jello. the egg inside was perfectly normal. Any idea? Have never seen that before.
Just went down to the barn to collect eggs and give the girls some treats. Whenever they hear me they all (45) come running into the barn from the pasture to see what I'm giving out. While I was visiting I noticed one of my Barred Rocks outside to the side of the chicken door. I stuck my hand...
My broody Buff Orpington just hatched 4 chicks and the nest box is about 2 feet off the floor. Should I just leave the babies with the mom and what is the next step? I've raised 25 2 day old chicks that I received in the mail and had no problem but I do not know if I just leave the babies with...
We just ended up with 3 roosters that were supposed to be hens.
They began to get really feisty ( at about 17 weeks) and started attacking the girls...so off to the processor they went. It was the first time I ever did that and i was afraid I would not be able to deal with it. But , one is in...
I have 15 older hens in the main part of our chicken house. I have 35 11 week old chicks in a pen next to the main chicken enclosure.
The main enclosure also has a chicken door out to a very large area protected by electric netting. The younger birds no longer want to be confined in the pen...
We have 34 5 week old hens and 1 (oops) roo. We have been keeping them in a separate area in our barn with heat lamp, shavings & all the stuff they need.
They are growing beautifully but I'd like to know how and when do we try to introduce them to our 11 adults
(9 hens and 2 roos)? And what...
I keep thinking that but all they seem to be doing is pooping in the feeders as well. That's what they think of the new feed! At that rate I'll end up throwing it all out. I think I'll need to hang the feeder to stop that bad behavior. My older hens are just fine with the feeders on the ground.
We just got what we thought was grower mash (actually what we asked for) and when we arrived back home realized they gave us Purina starter grower crumble (non medicated). Too far to return the 100lbs of feed so we started using it and the chicks (35 of them) don't seem to like it. Will they get...
New Hampshire Red, Rhode Island Red, and Cherry Egger. The others were all dark breeds that could not have anything to do with that particular chick. Unless they just sneaked in something altogether different.
Received 35 chicks from Cackle Hatchery 3 weeks ago. All arrived fine and are thriving.
I have this one chick that looks different from all the others. Can anyone ID this chick?
Thanks!
We ordered from Cackle and had lousy customer service too. The chicks got lost on the way and our postman drove 1 1/2 hours to another postoffice to pick them up.
They also left out 5 of what we ordered.
But.... the babies got here (thanks to the postman!) and they are truly beautiful and...
