I'm looking for 2 pullets to lay blue/green eggs...I'm in SW CT and would be willing to drive maybe 2 hours to pick them up and would also consider shipping.
I'm looking for a pair of pullets to add to my small flock..I would prefer EEs but am open to any breed that is a good egg layer! I'm in CT- Fairfield County - and am willing to drive 1-2 hrs to pick them up.
I'm looking for 2 Americauna or Easter Egger pullets to buy, preferably to pick up rather than shipped. I'm located in Southwest CT - Fairfield County - and would be willing to drive about an hour. I would prefer them to be over 8 weeks old as I gave away my heat lamp so raising little chicks...
This morning one of my hens refused to leave the nesting box for hours. I eventually picked her up and put her down outside the coop to see if anything was wrong with her. She didn't fight me when I picked her up (which is unusual) and when I put her down she stood in place, wobbling like she...
I am adding two more chickens to our flock and am trying to figure out the best way to build a temporary coop. We have an extra run that they could stay in, next to the current run, but it's too cold at night for them to not have a coop. The main coop isn't big enough to put in a cage with the...
I am looking for 2 pullets to add to our 2 Rhode Island Reds. I would prefer Easter Eggers (the family really wants some blue/green eggs!) but would consider other breeds. Within a reasonable driving distance from Fairfield County, CT would be great.
I have an injured chicken and the vet gave me antibiotics, but I am having trouble getting her to actually take them. The first day I put the liquid on bread and she ate it, but now she won't eat it anymore. (She is still eating her pellets and vegetables, though.) Can I use a syringe to feed...
We ended up not using superglue on her wounds - we were afraid that we might not have been able to clean them out enough and would trap dirt/bacteria under there. Nugget is still in the dog cage and seems to be doing okay as far as we can tell. She's eating and drinking and her wounds don't...
Thanks for the advice. We've rinsed the wound and put on Neosporin. She is in a dog crate now with food and water and she is busy scratching away at her food and eating.
Should we be thinking about giving her an antibiotic?
I found Nugget 2 hours later! But she's has a pretty big wound on her back and a wound right above her ear. The one on her head is pretty deep and keeps bleeding - looks like the skin is pulling away - and the one on her back is about 2 inches by 2 inches and I can see the muscle underneath...
We have had our 3 chickens free ranging for a year and have been very lucky. We live in the woods in CT but the only predator attack we had was a stray dog who was mostly just playing with them and did not actually hurt any of our chickens.
However, a hawk attacked one of our chickens today...
Hi! I live in CT and have 3 chickens - 2 Rhode Island Reds and 1 Buff Orpington. We've had them about a year and they are our first chickens so we have learned a lot from them! We originally got them for fresh eggs and bug control and have really enjoyed having them - and luckily so do our...
