Shouldn't there be some other symptoms? Especially in such young chicks after days to a week? The eggs are from my own birds too. I've seen sick chicks, these are thriving, especially the 2 with only one infected eye each.
The other day I posted about a chick that came out of an egg with goopy eyes. Then a couple days later, 1 more had one eye like that, then a day later, another from another hen...the first one is now a week old. The 2 with only 1 eye like this, it hasnt even spread to their other eye. None...
It is pine bedding, I did notice that although on the bag it said "low dust" it seemed dustier than usual though. The coop is pretty clean, and very well ventilated, but it is true that air doesnt seem to be moving, it is so humid, and damp, that everything is just...ugh. Anyway, I dealt with...
I had a nest of eggs hatch under a broody hen 3 days ago, one silkie mix came out of the egg, not able to open its eyes, but seemed fine otherwise. I thought maybe some egg had dried on it or something, so I cleaned it up and and put it back, I didnt think a disease, or illness since it was...
It is difficult to show the split in a photo... the bantams side, the door opens to the left, and the wall is behind that door, and its the opposite in the side with the larger chickens. The hallway where you can open the doors from, or take a pic of both is narrow, I could not get a photo...
For those that asked, I dont have any good pics right now of the run, these were when that part was under construction, the back has a covered porch, that the chickens can go out on as well as under, attatched to the run.
I do have more pics, but I must admit the chickens area, isn't quite as cute as mine, lol. There is a narrow hallway between my area and theirs, with some storage, the larger back section is divided into 2 sides for the bantams and regular size chickens, and then you can see the run out back...
I have been waiting almost 3 yrs for my husband to build me a coop. He started this last fall. My requirements were...had to look cute on the property, needed to have separate space for my bantams and larger breeds. I think he went way above and beyond. The chickens have their space, and I have...
One of my turkey poults snagged a moth last night, was fine when I went to bed, but this morning seemed a little lethargic, now shes really not looking good. Are they poisonous? Is there anything I can do? She has no symptoms other than lethargy, but shes really really lethargic now...
I just got my first turkeys, 2 royal palm poults. I accidentally bought unmedicated food, thought it was medicated, and their poo started to look like cocci. I got sulmet, but have been reading that probiotics should be given with it, my question is, wouldnt sulmet kill the probiotics? Is...
I have a few questions....
I just got my first turkey poults last week, I probably should have done more homework, Ive had ducks, guineas, and have many chickens currently. Lots of farms Ive been to (including the large hatchery I got my poults from) has their turkey free ranging with or around...
What would climb a 6 ft kennel, get on top of the wildlife netting on top so it rips, climb down into the run and either eat an entire bantam hen, and a chick, or carry it off back out the top and same hole it made?
I only found feathers, it cornered her, and there are feathers everywhere...
Well, nobody around has chicks, all the TSC and small feed stores are out, and the people on craigslist all have older chicks...so, I just put food and water right by the nest box and left the momma and chick alone. I checked later and the momma started to talk to the chick a little, it started...
