    Can you UnBroody?

If you have a metal dog crate, you can try placing her in it for 24 hours (with food and water). Make sure that the bottom is open to the air. You may have to set the crate up on a few blocks. Don't forget to take out any plastic tray that comes in the crate. If the bottom grate is too big...

    Need Help With Cooking Tilapia

We blacken our tilapia......YUM. We first coat each thawed filet with some melted butter (or spray with PAM, although butter works best) then we place directly into a hot (not to hot or it will burn the butter) iron skillet on the side burner of our outside grill. Sprinkle with blackening...

How long will broodies "mourn" their chicks when seperated?

My chickens free range so it would be difficult for me to keep the broodies away from the pen with the babies in it. I don't have anywhere else to move the chicks. Do you think it would help if I put something along the chicken wire so they couldn't SEE the chicks? They would obviously still...

How long will broodies "mourn" their chicks when seperated?

I had 6 hens go broody. This was my first experience so I let them all brood......at different intervals. So....they all hatched at different times. I have two areas where I can keep the broodies with their chicks for a while. I had the first set that hatched in the small coop. When the...

**2 day old chick pics** Is this crooked neck?

No, it walks forward with it's head slightly tilted. I have seen it actually straighten it's neck and look normal. It just seems like it tilts it's head when it is looking at something, but not all of the time. I will check again tonight after work to see if it is worsening.

**2 day old chick pics** Is this crooked neck?

This little chick was fine when born. The next day (yesterday) she seemed to have her held tilted to the left. When I picked her up to check it out she actually turned her head almost completely upside down. See pics where she is in my hand. She CAN straighten her head to eat and drink, so...

**YEAH! 1ST SET OF EE BABIES HATCHES THIS WEEKEND** PICS ADDED

I just have to say that seeing my broody hatch ALL 6 of her EE eggs was quite amazing! This was my first attempt with hatching and I am hooked. My DH is going to have to add on to the chicken coop once again. My teenage girls are also very enthralled by the experience. Hopefully they will...

Do ducks and chickens get along?? Can they share a coop??

Well, when the ducklings get big enough I will try housing them w/the chickens and see how it goes. If there are problems, I will have to have the DH build another outbuilding for the ducks. He said that the next animal we get would be a "quadraped". (a steer or a dairy goat)...

I am new at broodys also, but I have read alot of other's posts on this so I will try to answer your questions. 1-A broody will spend most of the day on the nest. She will get up for a very small time to eat, drink and poo. Sometimes not every day, though. 2-You can wait another day, but mark...

Do ducks and chickens get along?? Can they share a coop??

I just got 4 baby Khaki Campbell ducks. They are sooooo cute! I am keeping them in a brooder w/a heat lamp at night. But my question is, when they are full grown, or almost, can I let them free range w/my chicken flock? Will they get along? Can the ducks also sleep in the chicken coop at...

CANDLED EGGS AT 7 DAYS AND NOT SURE WHAT I SAW!! HELP PLEASE!

I candled my first broodies eggs this weekend. From what I can tell they are about 7-8 days along. I did see some veining. But mostly I just saw about half of the egg was "dark" and it would float to the top when I turned the egg. I did see a couple of "clear" eggs, so I know what that is...
