Does anyone who use these have a nipple water system and can you tell me how they work with your chickens trying to get water out of the nipples?
Thankfully our local chicken expert came by and our coop is fine. Better than fine. We're good! Off to swap the roosters for hens and a move to the new place.
The afternoon sun can get hot... but my hot is up to interpretation. It's a dry heat and it never gets about 82-85 here. Plus we always have a nice breeze. Heck, we don't even have air conditioning in our house, it never gets that hot. I don't think any one here has air conditioning. Never seen...
I know I'm overly paranoid.. being an animal lover, I don't want to risk losing any of our kids, so we used that small hardware wire on our run, instead of regular chicken wire. We've been debating on a large chain link dog kennel for our run when we build our fancy coop and I think if we do...
Made from all recycled material we had laying around, so it's not the prettiest, but it was free!
The house... looks like they have a chimney, but it's the inside waterer. Pop the cap off and stick the hose down inside to fill it up.
They're little run. I put the sunblock cloth on the top...
We have ours approx. 8 feet from along side our house. Using DE, we have no flies or smell. I wanted it close enough to hear them (and anything trying to get in uninvited) and it's next to a hose for water plus it's approx. 3 feet from an in-ground composter. Easy to toss treats to the girls and...

I'm going to be wrapping the pipe. We made a waterer from PVC pipe with nipples. I think winterizing the pipe like I do my regular pipes (sprinkler valves, etc) should be fine. If I have to, I'll build a box type frame around the pipe so the kids don't peck at the winter wrapping.
As...
We have water inside and outside. Food is inside. Our waterer's are made from PVC pipe with nipples so there's no water mess and within 30 seconds of installing them, they were pecking at the nipples for water. I keep the food inside the coop so I don't attract animals at night. Plus, my "kids"...
Thank you 7LFarm, bryan99705 and BoltonChicken. I know the only thing burned there were leaf piles. Literally nothing eles in the piles. We plan on putting sand down in the run but I knew they'd scratch down. But I'm so happy to hear it won't be a problem! Thanks so much for taking the time to...
Today we picked up 6, 2 week old babies. They're soooo adorable... and as new 'parents', we couldn't ask for anything better than BYC and all the GREAT threads, answers, etc. we've found here. We've trolled for a looooong time as we've planned how, when, where to bring our flock into our lives...
Hello BYC world! I have trolled this forum for a while as we have considered raising chickens for the eggs. So many great topics and I've had so many questions answered here. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Being a new chicken owner (we have 6, 2 week old babies right now; and some 3...
