    Dead hen

    When I checked on my hens this morning, I noticed on sitting instead of foraging, not long after leaving the coop. She ried to get up and was very wobbly. She bagan throwing her head back, Squawked and died. Any ideas what the problem may be. She has displayed no issues before this morning.

    I have a 22 week, unknown/likely mixed breed bird that has started to crow. The bird has hardly and comb and no apperent bumps where spurs would grow. Any thoughts on sex would be appreciated.

    Not sure on breed, but it is a larger falcon and definitely a falcon. I did an internet search, but nothing was obvious. I will try to get a better look if he is still around this evening.

    Most game cameras have infrared capabilities now (sans flash) and the prices are not as bad as they were ten years ago. But if nothing else you could at least put up a dummy surveillance camera that has a red light on it as a possible deterrent. I would also contact the local law enforcement...

    sick pullet?

    I have an 8 week old mixed breed pullet that for the last couple of days has been shyed away from the rest of the flock. Today she is a little more active but has watery eyes and a small amount of clear fluid draining from one nostril. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

    Sorry to hear about your troubles. You could put up a surveillance or game cam and maybe catch or deter future issues.

    So far there has not been. There is a fee crumbs on the ground around it, but not close to what the standard store bought feeders allow.

    I mean cutting. There will be no surgery. All free-ranging will be supervised as I live in an area where various hawks, falcons and occasional golden eagles nest.
