    NY chicken lover!!!!

I eat the turkey eggs at times. I'm not a fan of the duck eggs but the neighbors like them. During the summer I'll let the turkey hens lay on some eggs. I'll also put some under some bantam hens, some in the incubator and I even had a muscovy hatch some out. I'll let the muscovys hatch out quite...

Where Should I Order My Chicks From?

There will be far more varieties to choose from in the spring anyway. I've had good luck from McMurray hatchery. They have many types to choose from. I would feel confident in most of the well known hatcheries for healthy chicks at a good price. There are a bunch of top quality smaller...

Turkey with a injured leg (hip)

The turkey in question has made a total recovery. I just let him out with all my other birds. He would walk( hobble) as best he could. Ate and drank like normal and over I'd say 4 to 6 weeks made a full recovery. It's amazing at times how animals can heal.

Should I buy an Embden or an African?

I would suggest whatever one you like the looks of better. If you spend the time with them either one should be fairly docile. The Embden will be larger than a standard African. My female Embden is larger than my female white and buff Africans. They both graze good. Africans will uproot the...
