    NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi All, I have a lot of catching up on my reading of posts on byc. I don't know where the time goes but I never seem to be able to find it. I hope all is well and your year is ending on a good note. I'm looking forward to sitting back in January and reading the last 6 months of posts. This is...

Sorry to hear about your loss. No one should ever put up with that. I've told all of my neighbors that if any predator comes into my yard and kills or injures one of my animals that predator will be dead before it leaves my yard. If you have a dog that you know likes to kill small animals then...

I'll definitely let you know the results. Unfortunately my squash plants are done now but I'll keep it in mind for next year. Thanks for the info on garlic. It's funny garlic is even used in reef aquariums for getting rid of certain parasites. I think I need to start growing that in my garden...

Thanks for the suggestion. At least I know baking soda won't hurt my girls.

Thanks, I've been looking at their products. It really annoys me that most organic products won't say that it's safe or unsafe for animals. This is why we need the older generations to teach us what they did to control their gardens when they didn't have specific products.

Thank you so much. I'll definitely try this. Garlic isn't toxic to chickens or ducks right? They all will go back into my garden after the growing season but occasionally one will find a way to get in sooner.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi All, Does anyone know of an organic fungicide for vegetable plants and fruit trees that is also animal friendly? With all of the rain we've gotten this year I have every kind of fungi growing but my chickens and ducks free range all around my garden and fruit trees so I don't want to put...

    The Permaculture Inn

We are trying to find an organic fungicide for our apple and cherry trees that would also be animal friendly since our chickens and duck forage under these trees. If anyone knows of anything we would be so appreciative if you pass it on. Thanks, Jay

Sorry for your loss Lynzi. Please excuse my ignorance but I'm very interested how things have changed in incubating eggs since the one and only time I did it 30+ years ago. I only had a cheap hovabator with no thermostat, humidity gauge or egg turner. Back then I learned everything from some...

Thank you very much. The best part about Permaculture is that we all want to share what we've learned and this really is nothing new. Farmers have always shared since the beginning of farming. It seems to be a product of industrial farming where farmers have stopped being farmers and more...

Hi NY Chicken Lovers, I wanted to share with you my project that I have been working on for the last 3 years which all of you have directly or indirectly helped in this project. I created The Permaculture Inn which is still in its infancy stage but eventually we plan to have a fully...

    The Permaculture Inn

Backyardchickens.com has been so informative in shaping not only how I raise chickens and ducks but also how I think about the future in farming and agriculture. This lead to a new group of farmers, chefs and restauranteurs to think outside of the box of conventional farming and learn about...
