As this will be my first Winter in WA with chickens, and as we have had a few cloudy days..when do you Washington Chicken folk start with extra light. I would hate my girls who have just started to lay going into molt. Are any of you already supplying extra light???

My girls started laying about a week and half ago.. 1 the first day and then two and so on...today we got 6 we have 12 so hoping for a few more as the weeks progress... so nice to go out open the box and find eggs!!!! well worth the wait.

Well after listening for egg songs...giving girls extra treats.... o.k .. o.k... resorting to threats LOL I got my first egg today. All was quiet, no screaching like my old girls used to do, a little girl just went in snuggled up next to two golf balls and laid the most perfect tiny little egg...
You watch...... in a few months she will head home with a bunch of chicks, a tattoo and a cigarette hanging from her beak..telling you he has left her and found a young chick to hang with with... but its ok because as soon as he starts crowing she will be off again....because..... its true...
I'm sorry to say Miss Daisy is a loose chicken..not even old enough to lay and already having "sleep overs" I say you send her away to "military chicken school" before she comes home with a brood of chicks... LOL
