I think my 7 month old speckled Sussex is getting ready to finally lay. Every time I pet her, she sticks her butt up in the air like she is waiting on a rooster. Caught her in the nesting box too
My RIR seems to have quit growing. She's about the same size she was at 4 months. Here's a pic of her now, at 6.5 months. Her comb is at the same size now as it was at Christmas. Is she just a runt, is she sick? Am I just a worrier? At one point in time she was the same size as my other birds of...
My RIR, Shelby is now 6.5 months. However she seems to have stopped growing. Her comb is not coming in. She looks the same as she did at 4.5 months. Do you think she is just a late bloomer, or is this standard, or am I just an old worrier. Please make me feel good.

Ugh, I keep waiting and waiting. Each day is like Christmas morning to see if there are any eggs. One thing about the pic is she is a little more red, the dust had her looking a little faded. However, I noticed she isn't as red as my auracana that has been laying two weeks.
Savannah is about to change its chicken ordinance. The new rule will allow 1 chicken per 1000 square feet of property. For me, I will be able to go from 5 chickens to 9. Paula dean does not live in the savannah city limits, so the rules that affected het were from the county. This new ordinance...
I assumed this black copper maranwould be my first to lay. Next week she will be 7 months. Her comb and waddle turned red at Christmas. Anybody want to take a guess at how long before she starts?
