    Mini Barn Coop

Quote: I checked out the waterers on your page and may have to get some of those watering nipples. I have the same problem of the waterers getting full of crud. I only fill them half way and they still require that they are cleaned before they run out of water.

    Mini Barn Coop

Underneath the pine shavings on the floor is a piece of fiberglass reinforced plastic so that clean up is easy. The end wall folds down and I can pull the whole floor out to hose it down when it gets dirty. McMurrey sent me an additional 14 Red Star Roosters to keep my box full so they would...

    Mini Barn Coop

The horizontal 1 x 2's on the walls are where the future roosts will be installed. Here are some more picks of the auto door. I took the plywood cover off so you can see the motor assembly. I don't have a timer installed yet, but it's ready to go when I put it outside when the weather is warmer.

Looking to utelize a 10'x10' dog kennel....

You could bury some treated 6x6 timbers as a foundation that the panels sit on.

treated vs untreated coop * pics pg 2

If it is good enough to build decks and playgrounds with, it's good enough for chickens. I've yet to see a drooly chicken suck on a treated 2 x 6, unlike several todlers I know. If you are truly concerned about it, call the lumber yard and have them fax or email you the MSDS sheet on it and...

Choice of framing wood for coop?

Lumber Species is rated in the quality of wood. A typical 2x4 at the lumber yard is rated #2 spf. SPF stands for spruce/pine/fir... meaning it can be either species when it's milled and doesn't really matter as it is a 2nd grade general construction lumber. Whether it is rated #1 or #2...

whats the worst that will happen if goats eat chicken feed?

If your goats are wethers than it is more critical to keep them away from alfalfa and grain. They can get problems with the urinary tract havng deposits of minerals that cause blockage. Does are less likely to get this. Goats are ruminants and love to eat the stuff other animals won't touch...

    Need a Goat person QUICK

Wash the udder with warm water to soften any dried colostrum and make the udder more supple. Then milk her out twice a day. It's been awhile since I've milked goats, but I don't remember it being so thick. I would also make sure she has plenty of warm water. It could be she has not been...

    Neighbors Dogs killing chickens

I vote for shoot, shovel and shut up. I would even consider making room in the chest freezer if I thought the dead dog had chicken feathers in it's stomach that could be uncovered in an autopsy. That little tidbit of evidence would make any dog owner question the idea of sueing you. BTW what...

anyone run electric to their coop? How hard is it to do?

Wow, lot's of info to absorb! 1. Don't dig a trench until you have utility locates completed. It is a free service that utility companies will come out and flag phone lines, gas lines, cable lines, fiber optic, etc. etc. Look in the phonebook or call a local excavator to find out the phone...
