    Ready to Give Up

Oh my word! 16/22 were roosters?! I love chickens, but I already have so much on my plate. I do agree that everything happens for a reason. Maybe I'm getting an early lesson in helping a sick chicken? I just pray this isn't going to continue to be a trend!

    Ready to Give Up

Oops, hit post too soon. I do have the new hens quarantined out of precaution. How am I suppose to find a breeder with healthy chickens when I am being told the birds are healthy. I told the breeder about my first bad experience and she promised me her hens were healthy. Who can you trust?

    Ready to Give Up

I've only been a chicken keeper for 6 months, and it's been complicated. Long explanation ahead... In April my hubby and I decided to start our own little backyard flock. We purchased a little coop, and decided to shoot for 3 to 4 hens. This was an amount that we thought manageable for us...

    Chicken Sneezing With Runny Nose

So I have to keep a lone hen for a year? I was planning to take in three more hens over the next few weeks.

    Chicken Sneezing With Runny Nose

Long story short, I have a hen that was exposed to another sick hen five days ago. My now healthy hen is showing similar symptoms of a clear runny nose and sneezing. She is otherwise acting and pooping normal, but this is just day one. What might she be fighting and how can I treat her. She...
