Suggestions on adding ventilation in the PNW

Maybe, but that's a lot of opening and we get some heavy rain/winds here... for example, we have another Pineapple Express coming so it would soak a window with just an awning.

Suggestions on adding ventilation in the PNW

We live in the PNW, so there is a lot of rain about nine months a year. We converted a new shed from Home Depot to our coop and put ventilation holes in the front and back, but need more. What are your suggestions on where to add ventilation--without getting water inside the coop? We don't...

    Coop/run camera suggestions

Hello! I'd like a camera in our coop so I can see who is going into nests and so I can make sure all the girls are in the coop at night after the automatic door closes. I would prefer it to be battery operated and I need it to go to either a cloud or SD card, preferably the cloud or a way to...

Help... mama heating pad or heat plate?

So do you put the heating pad on top of the frame, or underneath the frame? I was seeing talk about underneath because they can get their heads stuck between frame and heating pad if it's on top.

Help... mama heating pad or heat plate?

First time prospective chicken mom. I read this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/which-one-is-the-best-the-brooder-lamp-or-the-heating-plate.1208318/ and have been very interested in doing the mama heating pad. It makes a ton of sense to me as I had already been going to do a...

Best hatcharies/breeders for chicks in September?

New to chickens and unfortunately I won't be able to get any until September. We are looking to get day-old (or so) chicks Unfortunately, most of the locations around us won't have chicks left, or if they are local raisers, they only have one of the breeds we are looking for. I have several...

    Type A Researcher Just Beginning

Oh wow! LOL, depsite their reputation, Dobies are such sensitive creatures. Kota HATES the rain and will pee on our concrete patio rather than go in the rain. But when she has her search and rescue vest on, she has no problem being in the rain.

She's gorgeous. How does she do with the chickens? I think Kota would be super interested at first, but be fine after. She's very responsive.
