I have one chicken that is not old enough to lay eggs yet. Two weeks ago I just got another adult chicken (Americana) that I don't know how old it is. When I first got the adult chicken she layed an egg a day for about a week. Now she has stopped laying. We are feeding her laying crumble. What...
I am not sure what my 1 month old baby chick is experiencing, but she "pulses" continually and her vent pops in and out about 1/8th inch. (Like a hemorrhoid maybe, or like she is trying to poo)? She had pasty vent issues for her first couple weeks, which I've been taking care of by running under...
This worked tremendously and pasty butt was cleared up in just a couple days. I used 1T organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar to 1 quart water. Thank you.
One of my 3 baby chicks (1 month old) continues to get poo balls stuck at her vent. I have been removing them daily, but she still has issues. Should I be feeding them something different? I am currently feeding the chicks with the vitamin-filled chick food that I got at the farm store. When can...
one of our girls has gotten very aggressive lately and has started pecking two of the other chickens to blood. We put the rooster salve on the bloody chickens and sequestered the aggressive bird for a few days... which caused a lot of stress on all five birds... but especially the sequestered...
Bad news as an egg eater will teach the others to eat eggs too. We had to watch carefully and find the original culprit. We got rid of her and the others stopped eating eggs. Bummer.
A few of our chickens are being pecked badly on the backside by some of our other chickens ... to the point of blood. Eugh. Is there a way to stop this and is there a treatment for the injury?
Thank you. So far she has not eaten the egg. She has not broken through the membrane. I have an idea which chicken it is though I haven't actually caught her doing it yet. Ergh! I'll keep vigilant and see if I can stop this. I am also letting them out of their cage more often but eye-yye-yye...
I have 8 hens that have just started laying eggs. One hen pecks the top of her egg, so every one she lays has a little hole in the top. Can I stop her from doing this, and are the eggs ok to eat?
We started with the Coop DeVille because it was pretty awesome... however with the new renovations my husband built into it, it is now the Taj Macoop! And it is incredible.
