    Run Advice, please

Thanks, I SO want them to be happy. My cats--don't tell them that's what they are---are spoiled beyond rotten. Funny, we keep 12-14 bird feeders in the yard, and I fret over them fighting and scrapping with each other. I'm going to have to get a grip and realize birds will be okay!

    Run Advice, please

First of all, I love BYC site; I've learned so much. I love seeing pictures of what folks have provided for their chickens, but I need advice from experienced chicken owners, please. I have a run that is approximately 20*16 (320 sq. ft total). My coop is roughly 32 sq. ft.(4 sf. per bird...

How Many of You Let Your Pets Lick the Dishes?

As a kid, I use to lick an ice cream cone, hand it to the dog to lick, and continue back and forth until it was gone. My mama says I use to gnaw on dog biscuits from time to time, too. We now have three cats, and although they have their own plates, they are allowed to clean up ours as they...

    Girlie Coop

Well, here it is. My first building project EVER. She may not be the straightest coop ever, but I guarantee you she's sturdy. The floor and walls are pallets. Originally, the intent was to build the coop off of the ground, but the pallets were too heavy, so I improvised. I've spent a small...

    bamboo for roosts

I found some nice bamboo (very sturdy) that someone tossed away. Is it a good idea to use them as roosts, or is bamboo too slick for the chickens to grip? Thank you

    A Run Project

I'm learning, too! Love your pic and the idea about shrubbery. I'm doing the same thing.

    Love BYC

I love this site; it's the only place where folks appreciate the satisfaction of finding free pallets, looking forward to getting chickens, and sharing the amazing (and humble) hard work done by themselves. Thanks so much and God bless each of you

    That is true, thanks!

    Run Roof

Based on pics and research, I'm planning to make a wooden frame (anchored to the ground somehow--I can't physically dig holes for the fence post) from treated 2x4's and attach wire (not chicken wire) around the sides, top, and floor. Part of the run will be shaded with the tarp; all shaded in...

    Run Roof

I'm going to build a 8x20 run (8'high) and am considering either wire fencing or hardware cloth for the roof with a tarp for shade, but I'm concerned about the occasional snow/ice storm. Any suggestion? Thank you
