Help please! 11 weeks old... Roo or hen Barred Rock?

Hi, I could use some similar advice since I can't have cockerels in my neighborhood. These two are approximately 12-15 weeks old. I think the one with the pale legs is a male and the one with the yellow legs female.

    Sod OK?

I have only 4 and they free range in the backyard. Due to several factors, dogs, drought, heat, a former swimming pool, the addition of stepping stones, we had a lot of dead patches and dirt/sand areas. This summer my husband started putting sod down in the those areas. After he prepped the area...

Thanks Margie. This place is actually owned by a neighbor of one of my co-workers and I have put in a request for processing but am also trying Craigslist and I know a few other people who have farms/acreage so will try to place him before the processing date at the end of the month.

I need help. I've been trying to find a home for my Silver Lace Wyandotte roo . So far no luck. Who on the northern front range can I take him to for processing? I'm in Longmont and feel bad I didn't have a roo plan in place but never intended on getting another chick because I can only have 4...

    Hen or Roo?? Please help

I'm having a sneaky suspicion that my Silver Laced Wyandotte is a roo. I got her, Lacy, and the Barred Rock, Lucy, this past spring and they are inseparable so I hope that is not the situation because we can't have a rooster in the city limits. Any idea BC community?

HELP!! Chickens attacking & killing each other!!

My 4 ladies have a nice new coop to call home. The old coop has been removed and they are laying, eating and drinking in the new coop (they free range in the backyard all day) but they refuse to go inside at night. They hunker down in the window wells or next to the back door that leads into...

    Broody Hen Thread!

Yep. Just a wire bottom. We put shavings in tray under the cage but Pam was sitting on just plain wire and we covered the cage at night with some old towels. No comforts of home.

    Broody Hen Thread!

Hi! I just wanted to thank all of you who responded to my plea for help with my first experience with a broody hen. I ended up buying what was termed a rabbit cage, put food and water in it, and putting it on the side of the house where there was no direct sun as its warmed up pretty nicely...

So I have 2 chicks, a silver laced wyandotte and a barred rock, which are now about 10 weeks old (?) - they've been spending the days out side in the coop while the established flock free range in the backyard. They are, in my opinion, too big to be locked up in the basement during the day in...
