All of our male quail are crowers and the noise is starting to disturb neighbors. We really don't want to harvest all the boys. We're thinking about moving our whole hutch into our basement. Does anyone keep their quail inside? Anything special we should know about it? Thanks!
We got our first quail flock this summer. We chose them because they would be quiet and our neighbors wouldn't likely notice them, so no complaints to the HOA. Well, wouldn't you know it, we had a super noisy roo. He just continuously crowed all morning long, from sun rise on, and it's loud...

I'm in Thornton and wanting to keep a flock of coturnix quail. Doing some research to try and figure out if they're considered livestock poultry or domesticated wild birds according to the city code. Anyone know?
Hi! I'm new to raising food producing animals and I feel like I've been reading tons and have decided on quails because of our space restrictions and HOA rules and the fact that I can really raise them for eggs and meat. I feel like I've been reading a ton on them but I still feel pretty lost...
Yeah, the HOA ordinance says "no live stock", And the HOA president lives next door to us, so I don't think chickens will fly (no pun intended). I know there's a rouge bee keeper down the street from us, but they live far enough away they don't get busted. The HOA president freaked out enough...
